Computer Engineer
Anna is a computer engineer. She has always been interested in computing and technology, and wanted to be able to create her own computer designs. She received a bachelor's degree and passed a qualifying exam to become a Professional Engineer. While she was at university she did an internship with a company that builds computer hardware, but she is not working for a software design company.
Although she spends a lot of her day at a computer, Anna also meets with a lot of different people, including colleagues working on the same software, other people from within the company such as marketing specialists, and clients from outside the company. This means that she has to be able to communicate her ideas clearly, and to translate them into non-technical language.
After replying to some emails from home, Anna heads to the office for about ten o'clock. She meets with her team to talk about their current project. They are building a new piece of software that will help businesses to manage their financial data.
Anna spends the rest of the morning working on the design for the new system. Software design is very careful work that requires a great deal of patience.
After lunch, Ana meets with a client who needs a new computer system for their financial trading company. Anna explains the option available to them, and finds out some more about their requirements. When she returns to the office, she begins work on a report detailing her recommendations for the new system.
